Short Week

Just a few more days and we will be heading east for several days. It has been quite sometime since we have been home and and are looking forward to seeing family and friends. If I don't start packing today I will never get it all together by Wednesday. The fantastic weather we had yesterday sure made for a wonderful Saturday. Bo and I visited with some great friends and made some new ones. Bo made him a new friend yesterday name Lowe, he is 3 1/2 months old. They just kind  of stared and patted at each other for a couple of hours. Bo rolled over again yesterday but this time from his back to his belly. He is still not real sure about what to do when he gets to the other side. I know before long he will be rolling from one side of the room to the other. It is so much fun to see how proud he is when he does new things. Enjoy this beautiful Sunday and have a great week!

I am not sure what he did to get that look
from Sarah.

Taking it Easy

Not to much happening around the Westmoreland house this weekend. We have mostly been playing with Bo and that is about it. We did a little grocery shopping this morning and now Bo and Buddy are catching some shut eye. I had my first over night work trip this past week, which meant Buddy's first night with Bo alone. They seem to have made it great and if they didn't they are keeping it quiet. I had no doubt that they would make it just fine (really, I am telling the truth). It is cool and cloudy here the last few days so not been out very much. We are going to do some work in the flower beds and trim up some trees when these two arise from their beauty sleep. Bo rolled over yesterday for the first time without any assistance. Rolling over is not something that seems to interest him to much so we don't push it on him. He is more interested in trying to stand up and do things. He is laughing and talking to us a lot a more the last couple of weeks. He absolutely loves the exersaucer and now he is into the jumpy thing that hangs from the doorway. I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

My First Mother's Day

I could not have asked for a better first Mother's Day with my two favorite guys in the world. We went to church, had some lunch and went to the Botanical Garden all before 2pm yesterday. We enjoyed a nice afternoon at home and topped it all off with a little fish fry for the 3 of us. Bo and Buddy both got me the sweetest cards and a little bit of the green stuff to buy myself something. We missed our mother's and grandmother's and hope that we will get to spend mother's day with them next year. The weekend was so nice with the sunshine and no wet stuff falling from the sky. It was kind of a strange feeling that Mother's Day pertained to me this year, I didn't really know what to think about it at first. I feel very lucky to be a part of 5 generations of mothers in my family right now. I know that my Mother (my great-grandmother) would be very proud to say she helped all of us be the moms we are today. I know if it were not for my mom, granny and my mother-in-law that I would not have made it this far in 4 months. I have always had a deep respect for moms and especially the ones in our familes but I understand it better now that I am in their shoes. It is scary, tough, and most of all rewarding all at the same time. I never knew that being a mom mean so much to me. Bo is a blessing to me and Buddy and I don't know what we ever did without him. I thank God everyday that he blessed us with such a sweet, precious and healthy baby boy.

4 month check-up

Bo was such a big boy yesterday at his doctors visit.

Weight: 17.40 lbs (90th percentile)

Height:  25 inches (75th percentile)

He took his shots like a champ and didn't even cry. The doctor said everything was good and he was growing perfectly. He said he is really cute too! I couldn't ask for a better sight to see on a Friday morning than sunshine. We have no big plans other than going to do some yard work and soak up some rays. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Bo the human burrito

We have just recently figured out why parents swaddle their babies...because it works. We swaddled Bo when he was an infant (well Buddy did it). He quickly gained his strength and could break free easily. We stopped swaddling him when he was about a month old and went on with things. He went to bed with ease not needing to be swaddled. Well, about 6 weeks ago that all went south for us. It was impossible to get him to go to bed without screaming and kicking for up to an hour. One day at school I asked Jenny (Bo's favorite) how they handled him screaming uncontrollably when they put him down for naps. She said he doesn't scream when we put him down and of course my response was WHAT? HOW? Please fill me in on the secret....SWADDLING! So of course I had them show me and then I went home and put it to the test. Needless to say he has been swaddled every day for naps and bedtime since (now I swaddle him). I was just telling the ladies at work today that I would stand in front of Congress and testify about the swaddling. The amazing thing is I can pretty much swaddle him up and he will fall asleep. Bo had been taking several 45 minute naps a day at home and now he only has 2 long naps a day and one short one before bed. I remember learning to swaddle on the doll in birthing class and once you have moving parts it does get a bit more difficult. I realize now why we stopped swaddling, we felt like we were hurting him trying to get him all tightly wrapped up. I guess now that he is bigger and we are veterans we know we are not doing anything but helping him. Bo is now to us the human burrito!
